In the past, when you needed to have a tooth repaired with a crown, you had to schedule at least two visits to your dentist’s office, get a messy dental impression using putty, and spend a few weeks with a temporary dental crown in your mouth. If this doesn’t sound like a pleasant patient experience, we agree, which is why Greenwood Dental is happy to provide easy, one visit restorations with CEREC.
“CEREC” actually stands for CEramic REConstruction, and it’s a system that allows us to digitally design and mill your crown in just one appointment while you simply relax in the chair.
Dr. Greenwood will start by examining your tooth and shaping it to fit the crown, and then he’ll take a digital impression. This will be used to design your crown for the perfect fit, and this plan will be used by our in-house milling machine to carve the crown out of dental porcelain. After that, Dr. Greenwood will place the crown in your mouth, and then you’re ready to go.
